A police officer reportedly
called his wife to beat up a lady after an argument with him, shortly after
assault victim was stopped while trying to park her car in the yard at her
boyfriend’s place.
The lady identified as
Matshidiso Motsoeneng from Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, South Africa who spoke to Daily
Sun, said she did not know the man was a traffic cop, because he was wearing
casual clothes and driving an old BMW 325.
“He stopped next to me and
started yelling at me. I thought he was a thug because of the way he was
swearing and the car that he was driving.”
The lady who said she told
her sister about the incident and also described the man to him, was told that
he was a cop by her sister who suggested they go to his house and settle the
matter in a civilised way.
“When we got there my
sister greeted him nicely and he responded well. But when he saw me, he started
getting aggressive,” said Matshidiso.
According to her, it was
during this second argument that the police officer called his wife to beat her
up. The lady further alleged that the police officer threatened people who
tried to intervene.
Police spokesman Captain
Kay Makhubele who confirmed the incident,
said the cop and his wife appeared in court on Wednesday and will appear
again soon.
