Super Eagles’ striker and
Al Nassr sensation, Ahmed Musa and Super Falcons player, Francisca Ordega both
won the top prizes of King and Queen of the Pitch at the sixth honor function
of the Nigeria Pitch Awards hung on Saturday night.
In the Defender of the Year
classification, William Troost-Ekong of Udinese fought off challenges from
individual partners, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo. In the Goalkeeper’s
class, Anorthosis Famagusta goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, beat a year ago’s
victor, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Enyimba International goalie, Theophilus
Afelokhai, to win the prize out of the blue. Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred
Ndidi held the Midfielder of the Year grant, and Odion Ighalo has cast a ballot
the Striker of the Year.
The Sam Okwaraji Award for
a promise to Nigeria Football has been one of the high purposes of past honors
functions. Barr. Akinwunmi, the previous evening joined Pinnick and Dr. Ifeanyi
Ubah as champs of the lofty Sam Okwaraji Award. Enugu Rangers Coach, Gbenga
Ogunbote won the Coach of the Year grant, while his group trucked home the Club
of the Year grant. Nigeria’s national ladies group, Super Falcons were cast a
ballot the Best National Team.
