Background
Ikechukwu
(aka International Killz) is a popular Nigerian rap artist born in Manassas
(Virginia), USA.
Ikechukwu attended Kings College (high-school) in Lagos and
returned to the U.S. in pursuit of his Bachelors Degree. Ikechukwu later
realized his passion for entertainment dominated his interests, so he pursued a
career in music. Ikechukwu left NY for Nigeria in 2006 and released his debut
album title Son of the Soil which featured break out single ‘My Name Is
Ikechukwu.’ He got intercontinental notoriety bringing his label WFA and STORM
records to the forefront of music in Nigeria and became the new face of hip-hop
and progressive Nigerian music.
Career
After
Ikechukwu’s freshman album 'Son of the Soil', he released ‘Life and Times
of Killz’ which included hits like Shoobeedoo, Like You feat. Wande Coal, Wind
Am Well feat. D’banj and Don Jazzy and We Go Hard feat. M.I. Ikechukwu
independently released his third album ‘The Alliance Reconstructed’ through his
personally owned record label WFA. This album included hits like Critical feat.
D’banj, Now Is The Time feat. Don Jazzy, Tonite feat. Tuface Idibia, If To Say
feat. Sound Sultan, In Ya Mind feat. Eldee and Djzeez. Ikechukwu’s accolades
include, but are not limited to, Best Male Video (Channel O awards, 2008) Best
Video (MTV Awards, 2008) Best Male West Africa (Channel O awards, 2009), and a
bunch of nominations across Africa.
Today
Ikechukwu
and his label mates Uzikwendu and Peter Clarke continue to release records from
World Famous Akademy. Uzi's first release in 2011 was ‘stay stunting’, ‘osiso’
in 2012 which made ripples across the country. Peter Clarke has done several
features on other artists’ songs like ‘phenom’ and ‘willybang’, he also
released ‘u hawt’ feat killz, ‘amaka’ and ‘no be so’.
Killz made
a resurgence in 2012 with “bu lie oto", “ifeoma” feat. Omo akin, love me
tonite and B.A.D.A.
In 2013,
featuring on hit single “fotojenik” by wizzboy, he followed suit with his own
new single Balabala feat wizzboy. He also recently featured on smash hit “eziokwu”
by lynxxx.
With
“balabala” video about to drop, short film and full feature film coming this
summer from WFA media 2013 is set to be a great year for Ikechukwu and the WFA
camp.
