According to Skynews, finals of the French Open has been disrupted by a bare-chested
protester who leapt onto the court at Roland Garros with a red flare.
The spectator, who was wearing a white mask, came within a couple of
metres of defending champion Rafael Nadal before being wrestled away by
security guards.
Nadal appeared undeterred by the interruption and went on to beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-3 6-2 6-2.
The drama unfolded in front of the VIP box where Olympic gold medallist
Usain Bolt and Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio were sitting.
It is believed the man was protesting against same-sex marriage, which was legalised in France last month.
Earlier, two demonstrators were removed from the stadium after holding
up play by brandishing a banner with a slogan criticising the new law.
A group of protesters were also seen unfurling a banner and waving flares on the roof of Court Suzanne Lenglen.
The on-court protest was similar to one involving Roger Federer in his 2009 French Open win over Robin Soderling.
On that occasion, a serial sports event protester known as Jimmy Jump
ran up to the Swiss player and attempted to place a hat on his head.
He was tackled by a security guard while stumbling after jumping over the net.
