Paula Deen's use of the n-word
has cost her much of her food empire. Rae Dawn Chong recently used the
n-word in talking about Oprah. And where does Oprah, 59, stand on use
of the word? She's clear about her feelings.
"You cannot be my friend and use that word around me. It shows my age,
but I feel strongly about it," she tells Parade magazine. "… I always
think of the millions of people who heard that as their last word as
they were hanging from a tree."
Oprah was interviewed with co-star Forest Whitaker and director Lee Daniels about their new movie, The Butler. Whitaker,
52, says, "I don't use the word. Never did." But Daniels, 53, admits
he's tossed it around. "It's a word I used quite a bit, until Oprah sat
me down and talked to me about its power."
