Insane woman halts flow of traffic in Ibadan

According to Tribune, a woman, suspected to be insane, on Wednesday morning, held motorists
hostage for several hours at Olanipekun Street, Ososami/Iyana Adeoyo road, Ibadan, as she decided to sleep on the road, thereby obstructing free flow of traffic around the area.

The woman, identified as Adebimpe Adegbesan, according to one of her neighbours who preferred anonymity, had been suffering from mental instability since two years ago.
"Although her family members have done a lot to ensure that she regains her sanity fully, but the problem still persists as you can see."

Another source informed the Nigerian Tribune that the woman had, in the early hours of Wednesday, broke into a church beside the house she was staying and started throwing chairs and other valuables belonging to the church out, claiming that the church was erected on her father's land.

The source further stated that: "The land was leased by her father to the church, but we do not know why she chose to break into the church and started throwing things out. "She was about to break the pulpit when one of the members of the church came around to stop her and that was when she decided to come and sleep on the road, claiming she was beaten up by the man that came to collect the pulpit from her and causing traffic jam here." It, however, took the intervention of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) team, led by Tayo Okunola, to whisk the woman away from the road.
