Lagos compensates owners of acquired lands

Accoding to the Guardian, the Lagos State Government Tuesday disclosed that it has paid compensation to five landlords whose lands were acquired in the aftermath of the June 3, 2012 Dana Air Crash at Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos.
The acquired land measured 2,834.917 square metres. Those compensated by the government are people with approved landed documents. They are Mr. Isaac Aduroja, Pastor Daniel Omowumi, Alhaja Ramota Akinwusi, Pastor Ezekiel Akin-Jesu and Alhaji Wahab Oshinaya. They received their cheques on Tuesday from the government at the event held at the Lands Bureau Ministry. Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said between N4 to N5 million was paid per plot of land, in accordance with fair market value. AMuri-Okunola, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, Lands Bureau and Acting Permanent Secretary, Aina Salami said after the Dana Air crash, the damaged buildings had to be demolished being no longer safe for human habitation.
