Female Employee Killed By Wild Large Cat

A female employee was killed after she was attacked by a wildcat at an animal sanctuary in Oregon.
Sergeant Robert Wurpes, of Clackamas County Sheriff's office, said the 35-year-old woman was attacked on Saturday night at Wildcat Haven Sanctuary in Sherwood.

He said the animal involved was a large cat that was locked in a cage following the attack. It was unclear what type of large cat.

The website of the Wildcat Haven Sanctuary describes it as a "last hope" for more than 60 wildcats that have been abandoned or abused, including bobcats, cougars, lynx and tigers.

The facility, which opened in 2001, is not open to the public, but does provide on-site tours to donors.
Fire crews were unable to reach the worker because several cats were loose within the sanctuary, The Oregonian reported.
Sherwood is located in the Tualatin Valley, southwest of Portland.
