Gang Rape Planned, Punished For Fallen In Love

A 20-year-old Indian woman has been left fighting for her life after village elders allegedly ordered her to be gang-raped – because she had fallen in love with the man outside her community.
Thirteen men have been arrested in connection with this case.
A Kangaroo court, locally called ‘Salishi Sabha’, allegedly ordered the rape as punishment for the woman because she couldn’t pay a £244 fine for her ‘love’ crime – falling in love with a man outside her community.

The victim further told the police that she “had lost count” of the number of men who assaulted her throughout Tuesday night, in Sabalpur village.
According to her words, the Salishi Sabha summoned her and her lover to their court on Monday and detained them throughout the day and night. Then both, the victim and her man, were tied to separate trees in the village square as the court issued the order.
Their affair cost them a £244 fine each. However, when the girl’s family admitted they were unable to pay the fine, the head of Salishi Sabha allegedly ordered the young girl be raped as additional punishment.

The boy’s friend managed to pay his fine on his behalf.
The victim is now being treated in the local hospital and the police are waiting for the medical report to be issued.
While the police have already arrested 13 persons one is still on the run.
