Leonardo DiCaprio has donated $3m (£1.8m) to a conservation organisation to help protect marine life.
The Oscar-nominated actor's foundation gave advocacy group Oceana the grant to help it promote responsible fishing and safeguard the welfare of sharks.
Oceana said the money will be spread over a three-year period. Chief executive Andy Sharpless said DiCaprio's support will help Oceana in its efforts to win more protection for countless sharks and other marine animals and for ocean habitats in the Pacific and Arctic.
Oceana said it is working to ban drift gillnets off California's coast in order to protect dolphins, whales, turtles and other marine animals from being caught and killed as "bycatch".
It is not the first substantial donation the Wolf Of Wall Street star has made to an environmental charity.
In November the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation awarded a $3m grant to the World Wildlife Fund to boost a scheme to help Nepal double its wild tiger population by 2022.
"Time is running out for the world’s remaining 3,200 tigers, largely the result of habitat destruction and escalating illegal poaching," said DiCaprio, a WWF board member.
The star is not the only US actor doing their bit for the environment.
Robert Redford is a long-time campaigner and is also a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere travelled to Japan in 2008 in an attempt to stop fishermen from carrying out their annual dolphin slaughter.
Brad Pitt has also founded a foundation which builds homes using affordable eco-friendly technology.
