Uncontrollably Influx Of People Visits The "Healing Waters"

Unguwar Yari village in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi is witnessing an influx of people seeking cure of their ailments with the use of underground water believed to have “healing powers’’.
The council Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Mai-Jega, told Journalists on Monday that many people from all walks of life were visiting the village in search of healing through drinking and bathing with the water.  See more pictures when you continue please.

“The council has obtained clearance from health officials who conducted tests and confirmed that the water is free of diseases.
“We have no intention of preventing people who believe in the healing powers of the water to make use of it.
“The council will not be a hindrance to those who choose to use the water, but we will ensure there is no lawlessness in the process,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the people of Unguwar Yari have fenced the source of the “miracle” water.
A guide, Malam Yaro Unguwar-Yari, said the council had also provided different sizes of plastic containers for people who wish to fetch the water.
He said that the community had appointed a monitoring committee to ensure that the water was not sold to people.

Conducting a NAN correspondent round the area, he said: “the water was discovered by a grandmother who was in searching of medicinal herbs for her sick grandchild’’.
“The news of the healing water spread when the woman revealed that on drinking from the underground water, her grandchild was healed instantly,’’ he said.
He Unguwar-Yari said that between 40 and 50 vehicles conveying people to the village on a daily basis.

A farmer, Malam Usman Dan-Malam, claimed that the water healed pains in his leg.
Another beneficiary, Malam Yahaya Sarki, said he prayed over the water and gave it to his child and immediately she stopped bed-wetting.
A man, Mai Akwai Abubakar, said that he was healed of his ailment after drinking the water, adding: “I have sent two 25-litre containers with the water to my friends’’. (NAN)
