Land Dispute, Harry Akande’s Brother Release

The unending tussle between the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and AIC Limited, owned by the business mogul, Chief Harry Akande, over a portion of land at the international wing of
the Murtala Muhammed Airport, on Wednesday, took another dimension, with the Nigeria Police, Airport command, detaining the General Manager of AIC Limited, Chief Niyi Akande, over the crisis.
Also, the president of AIC Limited, Chief Harry Akande, was said to have been invited for interrogation by the police command, but he declined the invitation when he got wind of the fact that his general manager, who was earlier invited by the police, had been detained.
However, the police debunked the claim that Chief Akande’s general manager was detained, but confirmed his invitation by the authorities.
There was tension at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, as both parties involved in the land tussle stormed the place with security operatives to carry out their missions.
FAAN had, since last week, broke into and allowed airport workers to park their vehicles in the large parcel of land in contention.
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos had told the two parties involved in the crisis to vacate the land until the issue was resolved by the court, but Akande insisted that the breaking into the land by FAAN contravened the existing law order.
At the scene on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Airport command, Mr Saliu Wasiu, invited the General Manager, AIC, Chief Niyi Akande, to his office, when Chief Harry Akande, with his escort, blocked the entrance into the car park, a situation, which prevented vehicles from entering or exiting the land.
