On Thursday, April 3, the Makurdi Business Unit of Jos Electricity Distribution Company stated that rainstorm had destroyed more than 100 electricity poles, houses and pushed down many trees on Wednesday night in Makurdi, Benue State.
According to the business manager of the unit, Mr John Emeruwa, the company had sustained “colossal damage” in the incident ocсurred in three towns: Otupko, Ugbokolo and Makurdi. He also said that they have already informed their head office in Jos.
He added, “Otukpo and Ugbokolo also had similar incidents but it was not like that of Makurdi. This is going to cost a lot to fix.”
Emeruwa however assured the company’s customers that full electricity supply to Makurdi and its environs would be restored soon.
“The process of power restoration is on. It is not a day’s job,” he said.
He commended security agencies, especially the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps for protecting public and private facilities in the state.

Nigeria is still very backward, should get rid of those eletricity poles.
