Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State Broke Down In Tears

 

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State yesterday broke down in tears over the poor condition of prisoners at the New Abeokuta Prison, Oba, in Obafemi Owode local government area of the state.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun who had earlier granted amnesty to 15 prisoners at Ibara Prison in Abeokuta could not hold back his emotions when he got to the Oba prison where 492 inmates were on awaiting trial.

Most of the inmates on the awaiting trial have spent as much as 7 years in prison with no case file.
The Governor, who said he was ashamed of being a governor under such condition, explained that the conditions of prison in the state and the country made it difficult for rehabilitation of prisoners.
He however, ordered that some sick prisoners be given adequate medical attention immediately.
