A woman, Hajiya Maimuna Danja, died on Wednesday in tragic car accident while travelling from her village to Katsina to pray for the release of the Chibok school girls in Boko Haram captivity. Oh God, what a tragedy, depressing! I pray God would comfort her family and keep abducted girl alive.
Another woman survived the car crash but sustained injuries and is receiving treatment in the hospital.
They are both from Danja in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State and were on their way to attend a special prayer session for the release of the Chibok girls, organised by the wife of the Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Shema when their car had an accident on Danja-Katsina road.
The governor’s wife, who announced this during the prayer session, prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and also for the quick recovery of the injured woman.
She called on Nigerians not to relent in praying and fasting for the safe release of the abducted schoolgirls and also for peace to reign in the nation.
During the prayer session which was attended by different women groups from across the state, Mrs Shema begged parents, especially mothers not to allow the Chibok incident discourage them from sending their daughters to school and to train their children properly so they can be useful to society.
The Chairperson of High Level Women Advocate, an NGO, Hajiya Mariya Abdullahi who also spoke, expressed optimism that the girls would be released and return home unharmed, saying “nothing is impossible to God Almighty”.
