An avid fisherman, Aleks Korobov, who caught an unusual creature, said “It was already dead but when I picked it up and smelt it, I could tell it was fresh. I then opened its gills which were nice and red but I noticed the mouth wasn’t right for a bream and when I opened it I nearly dropped the thing in surprise. Inside were a load of human teeth.”
When Aleks told his fellow
fishermen about a weird catch they did not believe him and laughed at him until
saw a nightmarish creature with their own eyes.
Experts reckon the fish
with human teeth is actually a vegetarian piranha
One of his friends said:
“We know Aleks can tell some tall tales but when he came in and said he had a
fish with human teeth we thought he’d certainly been drinking. But then he got
it out and we were totally shocked. None of us had ever seen anything like it
in our lives.”
Experts at the Institute of
Fisheries and Oceanography reckon the fish is actually a vegetarian piranha,
however, a series of examinations needed to determine the species and
explanation for the teeth. The scientists assume that the fish was dumped by an
owner and it’s very unlikely that it came from tropical waters to Arctic.
While pacu are not
aggressive carnivores like the piranha, their jaws can be hazardous
Pacu is a common name used
to refer to several common species of omnivorous South American freshwater fish
that are related to the piranha. Pacu are commonly sold as “Vegetarian
Piranhas” to home aquarium owners. While they are not aggressive carnivores
like the piranha, their crushing jaw system, used primarily for eating seeds
and nuts, can be hazardous.
