Jennifer Cramblett is 36 years old. She claims this mistake caused her depression and stress, because her family turned to be racists and she and her partner live in all-white town.
The couple specified that
they need a white donor to be a father of a baby. The sperm bank only sent to
them a $400 refund for providing them wrong semen.
Ms Cramblett said that she
had ‘limited cultural competency relative to African-Americans’ and is very
afraid that her baby daughter will not be accepted in her hometown. Now her
daughter Payton is two years old. Jennifer and her partner Amanda Zinkon love
their baby girl so much that they are ready to move into more tolerant area.
Even simple everyday things
are very complicated in their town: ‘Payton has hair typical of an African
American girl. To get a decent cut, Jennifer must travel to a black neighbourhood,
far from where she lives, where she is obviously different in appearance, and
not overtly welcome,’ according to the lawsuit.
The couple now lives in
Uniontown, population 2,802. They are afraid that Payton will be the only
non-white kid in her class when the time comes for her to go to school.
Midwest Sperm Bank has not
given any comments on this case yet.
