Tanker Exploision Took The Life Of Many In Ibadan

Many others, who sustained serious injuries, including an 8-year-old girl, were rushed to the Accident and Emergency section of University College Hospital, Ibadan.
No fewer than fifteen people including a mother and two of her children were said to have lost their lives after a fully loaded petrol tanker exploded at Molete Bridge in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The accident happen when a fully loaded fuel tanker fell; leaking its contents which instantly caught fire, while trying to negotiate a bend. 

The driver of the truck was also killed by the fire.

The fire also destroyed properties for millions of naira by which, according to one of the market leaders, Alhaja Isuat Abiola Oyinlola, who counted the losses, consumed about 45 shops, 13 vehicles, three houses, seven commercial motorcycles, three commercial tricycles and several other items. 

The APC Director of Publicity and Strategy Olawale Sadare said the Molete inferno was not only unfortunate but also devastating in view of the fact that Oyo State “at the moment has a government which prioritizes every pro-active measure required to guarantee the safety and well-being of the people ir­respective of their status or background.” 

The Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has described the accident as devastating.
He has expressed sympathy families of those who lost their lives in a tragedy at the Molete area of Ibadan, the state capital, praying that God will give them the courage to bear the loss. 

Several weeks ago tragedy happened in Onitsha on September, 29, as a fuel tanker exploded at Afia Nkpor. Many are reportedly killed.

Three persons were killed following an explosion that occurred after a tanker fully loaded with petrol exploded close to Eburutu Barracks axis of the Murtala Muhammed Highway in Calabar.  The incident occurred on September, 2, 2014, Wednesday.
