“The governor has not offended me” - Alaafin

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has said contrary to rumours around, there is no strain in his relationship with the Oyo State governor, Senator abiola Ajimobi, stating that he was solidly behind his aspiration.

He said this on Thursday, when the governor paid him a courtesy call in his palace as part of his ongoing tour of local governments in the state to distribute appointment letters to 5,300 teachers recently given appointment by the state government.

According to the traditional ruler, the governor has been doing all within his powers to govern the state within the confines of civility and human understanding.

“The governor has not offended me in any way. He has not done anything for us to part ways. We are still together. May God Almighty continue to guide him aright. I will not tell lies, if he offends me, I will tell him. If there is the need for us to part ways, I would have told him but there is no reason to warrant this,” he said.

The Alaafin went down memory lane on how he had supported the governor when he was seeking to be the governor of the state, stating that he was happy that he had not made a wrong decision in supporting the governor.

In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi thanked the traditional ruler for the assistance he has been offering the state in terms of advice in the last three and a half years.

“We enjoy the enthusiasm of the people of Oyo and the Alaafin. The reception we got in Oyo today is not without the consent of the royal father,” he said.

Ajimobi also confirmed that the relationship between him and the traditional ruler had been cordial since inception, and likened the relationship to that of a father and son.

“People carry rumours that we would soon part ways which has not come to pass. They say he will abandon me. This has not happened. The development we enjoy in the state today is due to the support of the Alaafin,” he said.

While delving into the various achievements of his administration, the governor said that on top of them all was the peace and tranquility prevailing in the state, stating that peace is an essential ingredient of development.

While praising the Alaafin, the governor underscored his erudite disposition and said that this marked him out among other royal fathers.
