Lord Of The Greed's’ - By K Jinadu

Many people might disagree with me on this subject but I thank God we (maybe I should speak for myself) live in a world where there is freedom to express one’s opinion.
I do not think Jonathan or Buhari are credible candidates to bring the change Nigeria is hungry for.

Nigeria oh my country o! The talk of the month, in every angle of the world is the plight of Nigeria.   In every Nigeria household the upcoming election is the centre of discussion.
It’s such a pain that attention and focus are being diverted to the most trivial issues when people die daily in a country blessed with talents, highly skilled and natural resources.

I get this sense of patriotism when Nigerians debates about the appalling situation of the country an attribute  I admire, they talked and argued with passion about the condition of the country, it shows people are concern, saddened by it and want immediate change.

Being a believer of a more practical approach than verbal, talk is cheap, a lot of people do the talk but how many work the talk, action speaks louder than voice.

Jonathan’s promise to change Nigeria’s devastating situation for good in the next term if he wins the next coming election is implausible, he had the chance to have earned Nigerian’s trust but am afraid he did not, Jonathan’s government in my opinion fail Nigerian especially in the area of security and he is still failing.

In my life time Nigerian has never experience such gruesome killings.
As human, and a mother it hurts to helplessly watch from afar the death of many that included children, the future of tomorrow which seems to be a daily occurrence in Nigeria, when we have a supposed functioning leader.

Nigeria is as good as not having any leader, I believe we are in a state of anarchy, these devils that have taken some part of the country by force have continue to flourish and pitch their tent into most corner of the north successfully running the caliphate system.

Analysing Jonathan I see a good man, a dedicated husband and a committed family man but I do not see qualities of a leader to a nation like Nigeria.

Remember Jonathan never said he wanted to be president before he got into office, he was appointed, and the post was given to him on a platter of gold.

I believe Jonathan did not have a vision to be president.  Some will argue that Jonathan was working to restore and create more railway lines into every state in Nigeria that he was doing a good job; I agree it sounds fantastic, it will be very useful in the area of transportation and it will help decrease road traffic congestion.

Moreover, at the moment what is Nigeria's priority? Priority would be to eradicate terrorism, nothing would work if these cannibals continue to operate in the country, it would get worst, and my fear is for them not to expand beyond the north.

If a leader does not know how or what to do seek help, the western countries are willing and eager to help, not refuse help as the case might be when the US soldiers were sent away.
I was fuming with so much anger when the national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, a few weeks ago ruled out the need for a United Nations or African Union-backed force to fight Boko Haram he said the country and its partners could handle the threat.  Really?

A leader should not pretend to but sincerely pursue solution, if one lacks the capability and the situation seems to worsen resign.
Is not a crime to resign, it’s an honour when one accept culpability and surrender without being chased away with one’s dignity intact, it's in our part of the world that leaders are not accountable nor accept responsibility.

The word “leader” carries weight with a whole lot of responsibilities not just a figure head the whole nation look up to.
Those in government who urge Jonathan to go for a second term are selfish, greedy and wicked; those who I will like to call “Lord of the Greed’s”.
They’ve been stealing, and they want to continue stealing, never enough; they only think of their self-interest and nothing else, as for those outside the government we need to look at where we are coming from and where we intend to go to.

Scrutinising our style of politicking from past to present,  the "Lord of the Greed’s", God fathers and political cartel utilise the same pattern, there is a re-occurrence of steering the nation into looking one way while they come the other way.

The media and tabloid is a very powerful tool the government used in controlling the nation, in making one go in the direction they want one to go which I think they have successfully done again.

When the tabloid begins to report and make a politician feel cheated as two renowned political figure openly and verbally antagonise each other, Nigerians would began to have pity, thereby creating division and split support for candidates who are not supposed to be considered for president in the first place; what they’ve done is successfully divert Nigerian’s attention away from the solution, away from the root of our problem, corruption.

These iconic politician still wine and dine together it was planned, it's a plot, a trick so people would look away, while the citizens fight, quarrel and verbally attack each other on social media, in person and gatherings (Not referring to those who are paid to campaign, and are desperate to seek office post within Jonathan's cabinet, I understand if one is paid, then they are oblige to canvass, must deliver at all cost even if it means lying and creating a deceitful quality the candidate lack, Lol!).

I know a friend who began to un-friend half of her friends on Facebook, she became aloof to those who disagreed and refused to support the chosen political candidate. People have the right to choose and vote for their choice, we should be able to debate and criticise constructively without bitterness.

The discussion on Nigeria’s plight has brought bitterness, resentment, argument and disunity amongst us. Today is tribe which seems to be the most popular, tomorrow is age, next tomorrow is what?  These are factors that are relevant but no human will possess a hundred percent leadership qualities, because nobody is perfect; at this stage; we need to focus on a chosen candidate’s prowess, love and interest for all in regards to tribe, religion, background and social status; a leader whose paramount goal is to protect it citizen, eradicate the leviathans that is daily terrorising the nation.

How dirty can our so called political campaign system be? I was on Youtube listening to one of those enjoyable Nigerian pop music then this overlay you tube supposed advert rudely interrupted, not one of those you can skip, you have to watch; but what was supposed to be an advert was in my opinion a defamation of character to some chosen politician. It was a picture of Buhari, Tinubu, Ambode, Amaechi and other prominent people in APC with a negative caption of what they had allegedly done to destroy Nigeria as PDP campaign continued.

What baffles me is to put it on you tube for the whole world to see and then call it an advert with the ruling party garish PDP campaign stamp on it; it resonates obnoxiousness, negativity, bitterness, hatred and disunity amongst us.

It says a lot about the party, it makes you want to again question it credibility as a ruling party I don’t want to believe the president, our leader, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was part of this atrocious deed; that supposed advert must have cost a fortune, is a waste of Nigerian's money.

It was not a campaign but a slander, calumny against some in the opposition party, the sad thing was that any foreigner watching or person without knowledge of what is going on in the country would immediately come to a conclusion, would classify the ruling party as oppressive, as a tyrant when this might not be the case.  It’s very unwise of the publicist or campaigner.

To my surprise some if not most from the south are going for a candidate from the north which in my opinion in a way could be good, it means people are becoming civil, becoming more tolerant, open, desperate for change in regardless of the tribe the candidate originated from, but in a bid for a change we should not go for anything that's imposed on us.

Buhari also had his chance he was once a Nigeria military head of state. What did he do at the time? What impact did his leadership have on Nigeria? Which legacy did Buhari leave?

Nigeria belongs to all not just for the few, not for the elites, not for the “Lord of the Greed’s” not for the godfathers, not for the political cartel. Why are we recycling? Is there no other eligible candidate in the country?

As a Nigerian we have a right to humanity, a right to refuse violence, to choose, to fight for freedom, methodically we are locked and trapped in the labyrinth of the few, the powerful and the cartel.

Nigerians should be out on the street protesting vigorously against Jonathan and the upcoming election; no matter which part of the world one lives, am also guilty.  No impending election should have been allowed, Nigeria should be in a state of emergency not just the three or four states that were perpetually attacked; every activity should have been halted until the terrorist are eradicated or at least reduce to it minimal.

Look at France, the French people were cautioned to remain indoors a curfew time was declared within three days the culprits were gone for life; I admire the sophistication of the operation, Nigeria is more than capable even though we are not as advance but if the leaders are determine and willing to capture these murderers they would.
