It began earlier this week
when Minaj complained about her single Anaconda being snubbed in the video of
the year category at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. Anaconda was nominated
for best hip-hop video.
Taylor Swift has apologised
to Nicki Minaj in a Twitter spat over the MTV Video Music Awards nominations.
Taylor Swift tweeted on
Thursday: "I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I
misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki."
Minaj tweeted back:
"That means so much Taylor, thank you."
Minaj believes there is a
bias towards white artists
Minaj has three VMA
nominations, compared with nine for Swift.
In a series of tweets Minaj
suggested the music industry was biased against black women and preferred
female singers with "very slim bodies".
"If your video
celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the
year," she wrote.
Swift, who is leading
nominations for the awards, responded: "I've done nothing but love and
support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the
men took your slot."
Minaj denied her tweet was
aimed at Swift and was actually a comment on black women and their influence on
pop culture.
On Thursday, she appeared
eager to draw a line under the clash.
"I've always loved
her," Minaj tweeted. "Everyone makes mistakes. She gained so much
more respect from me. Let's move on."
