“‎I don’t know what led me to insert my hand into the girl’s private part” - Pastor

Felix Adebayo a sixty-seven year old pastor and grandfather, has been accused of defiling a 10-year old girl in Ubiane community, Aviele, Etsako West local government area of Edo state.

The little girl had been sent collect a mobile phone from his apartment when he allegedly fingered her.

The suspect, who had been arrested by operatives of the Edo state police command last week Thursday, was arraigned on Tuesday, August 25 2015, at the command’s headquarters in Benin, alongside 35 other suspects arrested for various crimes.

Confessing to his crime, Adebayo said it was the devil that pushed him to commit the unlawful act.

“‎I have a wife. I do not know what happened that led me to insert my hand in her private part. It is the devil,” he said.

Parading the suspects, the police public relations officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei said: “He carried the child and started whatever he felt like doing.”

Earlier, the state commissioner of police, Samuel Adegbuyi, while addressing journalists in his office disclosed that a total of 117 suspects were arrested between July and August for various crimes.

35 suspects were apprehended for armed robbery; 20 for kidnapping; 33 for cultism; 10 for unlawful possession of firearms; 6 for murder and 13 for rape and defilement.

While applauding members of the public for assisting the police in its effort to combat crime with useful information, Adegbuyi said they were prepared to combat an expected rise in crime in the coming ember months.

It is quite appalling the rate of rate sexual abuse on children across the country. It’s fats becoming a rampant occurrence. Recently, a 24-year-old man identified as Nwanagbaihu Chinonso was arrested after he allegedly defiled a 4-year-old girl, forcing his penis into her mouth to suck.
