Pictures of an
enormous fish were posted to Facebook by Geoff Brooks, although no
details about how or when the creature died were given.
Commenting on the
images Brooks said: “
As far as I’m aware. It was a kill order on a shark here
on the far north coast that was identified as being responsible for a local
attack. And yes – it’s real.”
“I was the one that took that photo and I was the one that caught that fish. I was fighting the hammerhead shark and he [the tiger shark] came up and swallowed it,” Matthew said.
The shark was
believed to be at least 6 meters long and could weigh more that 380kg may have
been caught in nets surrounding the Lennox Head area, one of the most popular
surfing spots. A fisherman identified only as Matthew claims he was among those
who participated in fishing and even managed to take its teeth as souvenirs.
