Army spokesman Sani Usman said that the men were caught in the Damboa axis of Borno state with a large quantity of food items meant for the insurgents in Korode, according to Premium Times.
"Nine of the 33 suspects are from Korode, five from Auma, 10 from Geargube, four from Kausautaya, four from Bulbul and one from Dolomi villages.
“Although some of the suspects claimed to be traders, they did not however deny buying and selling food items to the terrorists. Interrogation is still ongoing to further unravel the level of involvement of the suspects.”
In another development the troops destroyed an explosive planted by the terrorists at Sandia village along Korode road and rescued more people at Buduwa area along the Bama axis.
This is part of the successful operations conducted by the Nigerian army in the recent period. The Nigerian security and civil defence corp in Adamawa state have arraigned at least 10 suspected Boko Haram members.
The troops continue a multi-directional offensive against Boko Haram in the northeast of the country. Many camps have been destroyed and suspects arrested in a renewed attempt to tackle the insurgency in Nigeria.
