A gang, which operates
along the Lagos and Ogun state border, is made up of three Nigerians – Fagbemi
Isaiah, Abiodun Arapamido, Adebayo Salako, and two Beninoise – Kola Isaq, Sefiu
Kareem.
The five-man syndicate has
been apprehended by the police in Lagos state after the spiritual consultant,
aka ‘babalawo’, to the gang reportedly exposed them.
The Ogun State Commissioner
of Police, CP. Leye Oyebade, confirming the incident said policemen attached to
state Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, arrested five men in their
hideout.
“The suspects are being
detained at the FSARS Magbon Abeokuta.
“The police recovered one
AK-47 rifle from the gang.
“The leader of the gang is
on the run,” the CP added, stating that efforts were on to apprehend him.
According to him, “they
stole a Toyota Highlander and locked the owner in the booth of car; afterwards
they dropped the man by the road side before going away with the vehicle.”
He noted that the gang
parked it in the premises of the spiritualist at Ilaro, a border community in
Yewa South Local Government area of Ogun State.
The spiritualist, who is also
a member of their gang, promptly reported them to the police.
