TY Danjuma New Chairman Of Ntel

Ntel is Nigeria’s most advanced mobile 4G/LTE network providing superfast Internet Access that enables high-definition voice, data and video services. According to ntel its network is
built on the 900/1800 Mhz frequency bands which are the best propagation frequencies for the deployment of 4G/LTE technology.

Nigeria’s fifth largest telecommunication company, ntel, today announced the emergence of elder statesman, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma popularly known as TY Danjuma as the new chairman of the Board. Following General Danjuma’s inaugural board meeting, the former chairman, Dr. Tunde Ayeni, becomes Vice Chairman. Other members of the board include Captain Idahosa Okunbo, Abiola Ayeni, Kasheem Shettima, Philip Chukwu, Kola Adesina, John Darlington, Dan Kunle, Babatunde Omotoba and Kamar Abass.

“We welcome General Danjuma’s support as we add momentum to our growth and development in Nigeria’s telecoms industry. We expect to benefit enormously from his sterling leadership credentials, said the CEO of ntel, Kamar Abass.

The company made its first on-net test data call in Lagos on Monday, January 18, 2016 and followed this with its first on-net Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) call in Lagos on Thursday, February 25, 2016. It commenced commercial operations on Friday April 8, 2016 in Lagos and Abuja, while network services in Port Harcourt are scheduled to commence early in Q4. NatCom, the owners of ntel projects investments totalling more than $1billion by 2020.

To many, TY Danjuma is the unsung hero of Nigeria 
TY Danjuma played an active role in Nigerian politics and in the army 
He was involved in the Nigerian Counter-Coup of 1966 with the 4th Battalion in Mokola, Ibadan. 
He was appointed as Minister of Defence to President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Cabinet in 1999 
In 2003 he was made the Chairperson for investigative committee on the Warri conflict 
Goodluck Jonthan nominated him as Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council when he was the acting president

He is the owner of Nigeria America Line (NAL), which began business and initially leased a ship called ‘Hannatu’ which traded between Lagos and Santos in Brazil when Nigeria’s bilateral trade agreement had opened the sea routes to economies in the South American markets.
He is the owner of COMET Shipping Agencies Nigeria Ltd and South Atlantic Petroleum Limited (SAPETRO)
He is a philanthropist and the founder of Danjuma Foundation
