Two suspects who posed as
soldiers have been arrested by the Lagos state police command for raping a
teenage girl in Oworonshoki area of Lagos State.
The suspects were
identified as 20-year-old Damilola Balogun and 26-year-old Joseph Agbo.
According to a Punch
report, the suspects allegedly kidnapped and raped a 15-year-old girl,
identified as Funke, till daybreak.
The incident happened as
two men wearing a military camouflage, ambushed the victim while she was on an
errand and whisked her away on a motorcycle to a hideout around Murtala bus
stop in Bariga.
The teenage girl was said
to have been dumped by the roadside after she was raped.
The case was reported at
the Oworonshoki police station by residents of the community after which police
operatives trailed and arrested the duo.
The Lagos State Police
Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the incident, said
four Automated Teller Machine cards and 17 identity cards were found on the
suspects.
She said, “The police
recovered items which included military camouflage, two berets, two mobile
phones, four ATM cards from different banks, and 17 ID cards bearing different
names.
“After interrogation, it
was discovered that the suspects were impersonators.
“They are also suspected to
be hoodlums terrorising the area.
“The suspects will be
transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation and
prosecution.”
