“Super Eagles players must embrace discipline no clubbing n drinking” - Dr Godswill Akpabio

The immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State and serving senator Dr Godswill Akpabio has urged the newly assembled Super Eagles players to embrace discipline and hard-work in order to succeed under the new dispensation of coach Gernot Rohr, Completeportsnigeria.com reports.
The Nigerians host Tanzania in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo on Saturday. Both teams have been eliminated as Egypt got their group's only ticket.

Akpabio who made a surprise visit to the team's Le Meridien Hotel camp on Thursday evening advised the players to shun any act which is inimical to the team's objectives and responsible for the failures of the past.

He said: "In the game against South Africa the last time here, some players went clubbing and drinking and didn't get back until around 4.am in the morning of the match. How do you expect such players to last 45 minutes on the pitch, let alone win a crucial game of that nature? We must learn from this type of attitude and turn a new leaf."

The senator also met with members of the technical crew and formally welcomed Rohr to Nigeria.

"I met the coach and his staff a while ago and I'm happy he's a German. We all know the Germans for their discipline and I'm sure he's technically gifted before the NFF contracted him so we are sure that we are in for a good time," the former governor said.
