According to a statement,
yesterday, by the spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Haruna
Mohammed, the accident occurred at Kula village along Bauchi-Kano Road at
10.30am.
About seven people were
confirmed dead, while five others were injured in a motor accident attributed
to over-speeding by one of the drivers in Bauchi State, yesterday.
It stated that the accident
involved a red Honda Civic vehicle with number plates AM 41 TRN, driven by one
Inusa Sale of Nasaru village in Ningi Local Government, conveying six
passengers.
The other car was a
grey-coloured bus with number plates, BAU 844 AE, driven by one Babawo
Dan’azumi of Bauchi Local Government, conveying five passengers. It said that
the accident occurred when the Honda Civic driver, who was coming from Kano on
high speed, lost control at a bend at Kula village, while trying to overtake
another vehicle. It had a head-on collision with the bus coming from Bauchi.
It said: “Police Patrol
Team attached to Ganjuwa Division, led by the DPO, visited the scene and rushed
the victims to General Hospital, Kafin Madaki, where seven casualties,
including the driver of the Honda civic, were certified dead by a medical
doctor.”
The statement added that
the five casualties, who sustained injuries, were admitted and are responding
to treatment, while all the corpses were released to their relatives for burial
after post-mortem examination.
