Liverpool Hold Chelsea, Watford Stun Arsenal

Chelsea shot ahead against the run of play in the 25th minute when David Luiz’s quick free-kick went in off the upright with Mignolet caught flat-footed while he lined up his defensive wall.
Simon Mignolet produced a last-gasp penalty save to deny Diego Costa as Liverpool held Premier League leaders Chelsea to a 1-1 at Anfield on Tuesday.
It was the Brazil defender’s first goal since returning to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain in August.
Georginio Wijnaldum deservedly drew Jurgen Klopp’s men level with a thumping header in the 57th minute after good work down the left from James Milner.

Costa’s 76th minute spot-kick, after he’d been fouled by Joel Matip, was saved by Mignolet as both sides settled for the draw that still leaves Antonio Conte’s Chelsea nine points clear of second placed Tottenham.

Liverpool however, remain 10 points behind Chelsea, but will draw a lot of positives from a dominant display against the league leaders.

At the Emirates, Arsenal were rocked by two quick-fire goals inside the opening 13 minutes as struggling Watford secured a 2-1 victory over the Gunners.
Watford, who suffered an embarrassing FA Cup defeat at third tier Millwall on Sunday, took the lead when Younes Kaboul’s powerful strike deflected into the net off Aaron Ramsey.

Troy Deeney doubled their lead three minutes later with a close-range finish after Etienne Capoue’s powerful run, and though Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the hosts after 57 minutes, Watford held on for the priceless three points.

Tottenham missed a chance to cut the gap at the top after being held to a dour 0-0 draw by struggling Sunderland, while stuttering champions Leicester crashed to a third successive league defeat as Sam Vokes’ strike gave Burnley a 1-0 win at Turf Moor.
Sam Allardyce celebrated his first league win as Crystal Palace manager as his side won 2-0 at Bournemouth after strikes from Scott Dann and Christian Benteke.

Swansea’s revival continued with a 2-1 win over Southampton at the Liberty Stadium, while Middlesbrough played a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Riverside Stadium.
