Super Eagles midfielder
Wilfred Ndidi has been named in lists of the best footballers in the world in
2017 compiled by Sky Sports and the Guardian.
Two of Ndidi’s Leicester
City teammates Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are also included in the lists.
Ndidi is ranked 65th in the
world by Sky Sports based on calculations using their ‘Power Rankings’, while
former PFA Player of the Year Mahrez is 71st.
Vardy is not included in
the Sky Sports list, but is 96th in the Guardian’s review of the year, which
was compiled by a panel of 169 experts from 63 countries led by 27 former
internationals including Ronaldo and Hernán Crespo. Vardy was 19th in the list
in 2016.
Nigeria midfielder Ndidi
has made a commanding start to his time in the Premier League, despite just
turning 21, and has made more tackles than any other player in the league this
season.
Mahrez suffered a
disappointing start to 2017, although he did save his best for Leicester City’s
Champions League campaign, but has finished the year by showing signs he could
be back to his best under new boss Claude Puel.
