Popular talented singer Yemi
Alade talked about her journey in the Nigerian music industry and how she has
grown to be the Mama Africa everyone is celebrating at at the Music conference,
Midem.
Very briefing but clearly,
Yemi Alade talked about different issues, answering questions thrown at her
from how she started and where she is today.
Starting off with the kind
of people she makes music for, Yemi Alade revealed that she sings for people
who will connect with her in terms of originality and while some of her songs
are from experience and stories she hears from friends, others are fictional.
speaking further about the
Nigerian African music scene and if there is a one lane to success in the
industry, the singer revealed that while it works differently for others, what
has worked for her has been her hard work and consistency in doing what she
loved even if it means starting off with her neighbour, growing to the street,
to the state, the country, and then Africa.
To Yemi Alade, a lot of
odds are against African and that which it produces, a statement that is quite
agreeable to many, but then she expressed her happiness at how these odds
haven’t stopped but Africa and its talents from doing great and being great.
Yemi Alade will later
perform at the Midem festival later that night, the 6th of June, 2018.
