The Nigeria Police Force said there was no incident of shooting at Dabi village, along Abuja-Lokoja road during protest by truck drivers.
The Police also said operatives led by the Area Commander Gwagwalada, ACP Mijinyawa Jahun have successfully cleared the road of the trucks and reopened it for the use of commuters following the obstruction of vehicular movement by some protesting truck drivers at Dabi village of Kwali Area Council, Abuja.
Recall that it was alleged that policemen shot at one of the truck drivers who had blocked the highway to protest the alleged action of the policemen.
The command spokesperson, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said that “there was no incident of shooting in the area and nobody was shot at.”
Manzah said that the road had been cleared following the intervention of the Police Area Commander in Gwagwalada and the Kwali Divisional Police Officer.
According to him, “we have been able to clear the road with the intervention of the area commander and the DPO of Kwali.”
The Command wishes to reiterate that while it recognises the right of citizens to express their grievances, members of the public are advised to always adopt legal and legitimate means in doing so instead of resorting to self-help by taking the laws into their hands and denying other innocents citizens of their right to free movement.
The protest was sparked by the alleged shooting of the tyres of Dangote truck by some policemen on Wednesday morning at Kwali.
