The Director General of
Ademola Adeleke Campaign organisation, Chief Lere Oyewunmi, has described the
invitation by the police, requesting its principal to appear before it as an
act of intimidation.
He, however, commended
President Muhammadu Buhari for reversing the order.
DAILY POST reports that the
Nigeria Police had summoned Adeleke, for alleged examination malpractice and
criminal conspiracy just few days to the governorship election.
However, President Buhari
ordered that Adeleke should not be invited until after Saturday’s election.
Oyewunmi said such action,
if allowed to fester was capable of heating up the polity unnecessarily, adding
that the directive of the president has doused tension.
He alleged the was APC
being jittery over an impeding defeat in the September 22 governorship election
in Osun State, hence the antics of intimidation and victimisation.
“We are taken aback by the
eleventh hour invitation by the police to our candidate, Senator Ademola
Adeleke on very flimsy and unfounded issue.
“It is obviously clear that
the ruling APC is so desperate to intimidate and harass our flag bearer because
of the fear of loosing election.
“I want to say
categorically clear that we can not be intimidated in any way, we are undaunted
and focused, no amount of intimidation and victimisation could deter us from
winning the Saturday poll.
“We commend President
Muhammadu Buhari for the timely intervention to douse the tensed political
atmosphere; that directive has really prevented unnecessary political tension.”
