The Kaduna state government
has reinstated a 24-hour curfew on Friday, 26 October just few days after
relaxing the order.
According to social media
posts by the Kaduna state government, the curfew takes effect from 11am.
Legit.ng gathered that the
government took the decision after violence broke out again in some parts of
the state.
“Following the tension
generated by the killing of HRH Agom Adara by the criminals that abducted him,
the Kaduna state govt has reinstated the 24-hour curfew in Kaduna metropolis,
Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru, Kateri and Kachia, from 11am today,” a short statement
from the Governor Nasir El Rufai's office informed residents.
The government had imposed
a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna town and environs four days ago after violence in
rural areas escalated and spread into the city.
Before then, the government
had imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Kasuwan Magani community in Kajuru local
government area of the state after crisis broke out in the area.
The bloody riot had claimed
the lives of 55 people on Thursday, October 18, according to the Nigeria
police.
Governor El-Rufai also
promised that the perpetrators and sponsors of the crime would be made to face
justice when he visited the area.
“We must live in peace and
never use violence to solve a problem. We are not happy with this and
government will pursue and punish those responsible for this devilish act,” the
governor said.
