Nicki Minaj Sued By Tracy Chapman For Copyright Infringement

According to TMZ, the 54-year-old singer and songwriter alleged that Nicki ‘stole her song’ ‘Baby Can I Hold You.’
American-Trinidadian rapper, Nicki Minaj has been sued by four-time Grammy winner Tracy Chapman for copyright infringement.
The 35 year old singer is said to have allegedly used ‘half of the lyrics and vocal melody’ of the 1988 hit to make her track Sorry.
Nicki made ‘multiple requests to license’ Chapman’s song in June and all were denied, according to the gossip site.

And despite stripping the song off her new album Queen, Sorry was still played on the radio according to the legal filing.
Chapman is asking that the song not be released again and that she also receive damages.
