Music has always been
instrumental in passing across messages and addressing societal issues. Musical
videos, on the other hand, serve as a medium of reinforcing the messages in a
song. Nigerian lawyer turned sensational musician has recently released a new
video that is making people talk on social media.
Nigerian musical act
Folarin Falana popularly known by his stage name Falz has set the internet
abuzz with the release of a fresh musical video to his single composition Talk.
The visual which is fast
grabbing the attention of the online community combines the use of live action
and animation in passing across its message.
With over 14,000 views on
Youtube within hours of release, here are some reactions of what the musician’s
fans think about the daring video.
Some of the
musicians fan commended him for being bold and courageous for putting out the
music video. He was particularly described by a fan as a musical barrister
while some others praised him for speaking the truth without any fine tuning.
The musician who has been
tagged as being fearless for his music video has also been compared to late
Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who was widely known for speaking against
societal ills as perpetrated by members of the government.
A particular Twitter user
identified as @Dansholz_ tweeted that the late Afrobeat legend would have been
proud of the Talk musical video.

It will be recalled that
creating socially conscious audio-visual is not an entirely new trend for the
superstar musician as his 2018 This Is Nigeria cover edition of Childish
Gambino’s This Is America, had sparked similar reactions from his fans at home
and abroad. The video had also attracted a ban from the National Broadcasting
Commission.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had
previously compiled a list of some of the most controversial celebrities that
got everybody talking in 2018. The list featured celebrity Disc Jocky (Dj)
Cuppy who many had trolled for some of her songs.
