The Benue state PDP has
appointed Senator Dino Melaye and Governor Samuel Ortom to serve as a polling
agents for the party in the re-run governorship election in the state.
Also selected was a former
senate president, David Mark, former governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam as
well as former minister of Interior, Abba Moro for elections scheduled for
March 23.
The newspaper states that
the above names were among 24 names of polling agents and two returning
officers picked by the Benue PDP and submitted to the INEC office in Makurdi.
Meanwhile, the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that no court has the power to
restrain the commission from conducting the governorship supplementary election
in Adamawa state scheduled to hold on March 23. The Adamawa Resident Electoral
Commissioner, Barrister Kassim Gaidam, said the law does not empower courts to
stop it from carrying out its election duties, Daily Trust reports.
