Teachers Blow Hot Over Delta Govt’s Suspension Of Headteacher

The Warri South Local Government Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, has urged the Delta State Government not to deal in “Isolation” with Mrs. Vero Igbigwe, Headteacher of Okotie-Eboh Primary School II, Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of the state, following the video of little Success which has gone viral online.
DAILY POST recalls that a pupil of the school, Success Adegor had in the video which went viral after she was driven out of school over the inability of her parents to pay for her school fees said, “Dem go flog, flog, dem go tire”.

Embarrassed by the trending video, the Delta State Government quickly suspended the Headteacher, Mrs. Vero Igbigwe, pending the outcome of a formal enquiry to issues of unauthorised levies and fees she (the headteacher) allegedly imposed in the school.

Reacting, the NUT insisted that all parties involved in the illegal collection of levies and fees in the public school should be brought to justice.

The Chairman of the Warri South Chapter of NUT, Comrade Confidence Ikuejawa made the assertion in a chat with newsmen, yesterday.

Comrade Ikuejawa explained that the illegal collection of fees was done in collaboration by the Headteacher with persons from different quarters.

According to Ikuejawa, “The Ministry of Education is involved, the Management of the school authority is involved, the Local Education Authority, LEA is involved.
“When you see the way they design the money, everybody has his own part.

“So, if they want to bring that woman to book, all parties involved should be brought to book. The woman should not be dealt with in isolation because she didn’t act on her own.

“The woman did not even have the right or power to collect money without taking directive from higher quarters.”
