Alex Ferguson and Man
United chief executive Ed Woodward are at logger-heads over recommendation of
the club's restructure.
The Red Devils are looking
to overhaul their talent spotting and talent development strategy having failed
to utilize the transfer windows.
United are now targeting a
summer rebuild under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and, according to Sky Sports
News, Ferguson has recommended Steve Walsh for a consultancy role to mastermind
changes to their club structure.
Walsh was formerly head of
recruitment at Leicester City, discovering the likes of Riyad Mahrez, N'Golo
Kante and Jamie Vardy as they went on to win the Premier League title in 2015.
He then spent two years as
sporting director at Everton where he spent two years before he was sacked last
summer.
And Woodward has reportedly
rejected Ferguson's advice as he is determined to bring in an ex-Manchester
United player.
Woodward wants to focus on
a long-term plan for the first team structure which will focus on identifying
young players and reckons a former player suggested to be Rio Ferdinand would
fit the bill.
The news comes after
reports last month that Ferguson was being frozen out at Old Trafford after his
idea of making Mauricio Pochettino United's next manager was rejected.
Ferguson won 13 Premier
League titles, two Champions Leagues and five FA Cups as well as numerous other
honours during his managerial career at the Theatre of Dreams.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had
earlier reported that Anthony Martial has been requested to be part of deal
involving Issa Diop's transfer to Man United, reports claim.
A £45million bid for Diop
was turned down by West Ham as United continue their search for a reliable
center-back.
