A pastor of the Mountain of
Fire and Miracles Church (MFM) has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year
old orphan and impregnating her.
The 48-year old MFM pastor
was arrested by Operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of
Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The suspect, David
Onyekachukwu, from Nsukka, volunteered to provide shelter and also conduct
deliverance on the girl after she was accused of witchcraft. After she moved
into his place, he took advantage of the vulnerability of the girl, repeatedly.
The victim, who was a JSS2
student of one of the government schools in Abuja, dropped out and was in
desperate need of accommodation when her parents died in 2018.
The pastor had lost his
wife and was living with his daughter before accommodating the victim who spoke
of how the pastor started making love advances toward her, an action she
constantly resisted.
She narrated that the first
time the Pastor raped her was in March this year during her birthday and had
since continued to rape her at will thereby resulting into pregnancy.
During interrogation, the
Pastor confessed to have sexually abused the girl only twice, an act he
attributed to the” work of the devil “.
