Dubai based Nigerian big
boy, Islamila Mustapha aka Mompha, has pleaded not guilty to the N33billion
money charges against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).
This took place at the Federal
High Court in Lagos where he was arraigned by the EFCC before Justice Mohammed
Liman on a 14-count charge.
Mompha has been ordered by
the judge to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till Friday,
November 29th.
This is coming a few days
after Mompha filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging unlawful detention.
In the suit dated November
14, and filed before a Lagos high court by his lawyers, including Gboyega
Oyewole (SAN), Ademola Adefolaju, Kolawole Salami and four others, Mompha also
accused the anti-graft agency of violating his rights.
