Confirming the incident in a telephone conversation, Secretary of Diobu Vigilance group, Prince Amatari Bipelede, explained that the gunmen who drove in Toyota Camry car stormed the street at about 8:20PM and opened fire on one of the vigilantes ,Mr Kelvin Dappa.
The gang four gunmen stormed the densely populated Illabuchi, Diobu, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday and shot a vigilante in the area.
Amatari said the gunmen shot Dappa at the Buttocks and that the bullets pierced his laps.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) and the matter has been reported at Azikiwe Divisional Police Headquarters.

The vigilantes staged an onslaught against the hoodlums about a week ago during which one of the criminals was nabbed with a revolver pistol.

Prince Amatari Bipelede himself narrowly escaped death on the 20 September 2018 when gunmen suspected to be assassins invaded his residence and killed two persons.

Security analysts suggest that the gunmen might be cultists or robbers who have not been able to carry out their nefarious operations due to the clampdown on them by members of Diobu Vigilance group in collaboration with security agencies.
