Ondo State Shut Council’s Abattoir Over Coronavirus

Mr Abayomi Adesanya, the Caretaker Chairman of the LGA made this known in a statement through his Press Secretary, Mr Martins Fasusi on Friday in Okitipupa. 
The Okitipupa Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State says it has shut the council’s abattoir over the coronavirus and other infectious diseases.
Adesanya said that the move was to safeguard the health of residents against the pandemic, other infectious diseases and the environmental hazards posed by the abattoir in recent times.

He said that closure of the abattoir was with immediate effect and warned that defaulters would be arrested by the police and other security agencies.

“The abattoir is closed in view of the current global health developments with respect to COVID-19 and Lassa fever, coupled with environmental hazards it has posed in recent times.
“The immediate closure of Okitipupa abattoir is until further notice and no activities should take place in the place henceforth.

“This decision is to put our collective safety and well-being of residents into consideration.
“Violators shall be prosecuted by the Police and all other security agencies who have been notified for immediate action and strict enforcement,” he said.
