Mobile phone footage shows the victim being chased by the gang and slipping on the grass as he desperately tries to flee. He was then kicked, struck with poles and stabbed in the chest.
Detectives
have released images of people of interest following a stabbing at Hyde Park on
Tuesday.
Police were called to the park at 9pm following reports of an assault and numerous males brandishing machetes.
A woman
filming the attack screams and swears: “He got stabbed. There’s a knife,
there’s a knife! Oh my God, oh s***, oh God.”
A voice in
the crowd, using slang for a stabbing, says: “He bored him! Oh s*** he bored
him!”
On arrival,
officers found a 17-year-old boy who had been stabbed. He was given immediate
first aid and taken to a London hospital where he remains in a stable,
non-life-threatening condition.
Met Police
are on the hunt to identify those involved in the attack and have stepped up
their presence in the park.
“The brazen
violence that was witnessed by many people enjoying the sun in Hyde Park was
both shocking and unacceptable,” said Detective Sergeant Alex Bingley.
“We urge
anyone who knows or can identify the men in these pictures to come forward. No
piece of information is too small.
“I want to
reassure the public that we are committed to ensuring our parks remain a safe
space for everyone to enjoy. We are doing all we can to track down the
individuals involved and bring them to justice.”
Met Police
confirmed a 17-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray in
connection with the incident.
