

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed the secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon Dele Isibor.
Sixty-two year-old Isibor was on his way from Imoru to Ifon,
headquarters of Ose LG with three other persons on Sunday, June 20, when the
gunmen shot at their car.
The APC
chieftain was hit by bullet while the kidnappers were said to have abducted
three other passengers in the vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital where he
died as a result of the gunshot wounds on Monday, June 21.
It was
further gathered that the three other victims abducted by the gunmen were
released after payment of ransom by their families.
The Publicity
Secretary of APC in Ondo State, Mr. Alex Kalejaye, who confirmed the incident
in a statement described the killing of Isibor as shocking and devastating.
"The
Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) regrets strongly the
death of one of its members, Hon. Dele Isibor. Until his demise, Hon. Isibor
was a member of the State Executive Committee of the party," the statement
read.
“He was a dependable
ally, and deeply committed to the development of APC, particularly in Ose Local
Government area, where he was the party’s secretary.
"The
party scribe was attacked over the weekend, in company of others, on his way
from Imoru to Ifon, headquarters of Ose Local Government area. He died of
gunshot wounds on Monday.
"The
party condemns the violent attack on its stalwart which led to his painful
exist, at the time the party is warming up for its congress.”
Moreover, the
party called on the people of the state to support the state-owned security
network (Amotekun) for proper safeguard of life and property across the 18
local government areas of the state.
"Security
challenge has been a major focus of the APC-led government in Ondo State, for
which so much has been done. The attack on Isibor and others has again
underscored the need for every stakeholder to support the security initiative
of the State Government to stamp out all forms of criminality. Praying for the
repose of his gentle soul, the party condole with the Isibor family, his
community, and the APC fold in Ose, and indeed, Ondo State, asking God to grant
us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss," he added.
Meanwhile,
after he was shot, Isibor had taken to Facebook to thank God for cheating
death.
"This
God is wonderful. Yes, it's another Sunday.
The death that would have taken me away has just removed my cap. Glory
be to God. I appreciate Family, Friends and well-wishers. You all are awesome.
