China Indicated Willingness To Provide Military n Economic Aid To Russia

As the head of Russia’s National Guard said that Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine was not progressing as quickly as the Kremlin had wanted.

The United States has told Nato allies that China has indicated a willingness to provide military and economic aid to Russia to support its war in Ukraine.

The US said China was expected to publicly deny that it was open to helping Russia.

The conclusion of US intelligence was sent in a diplomatic cable to both Nato and Asian allies and was delivered in person by intelligence officials to counterparts in allied countries.

Viktor Zolotov blamed the slower-than-expected progress on what he said were far-Right Ukrainian forces hiding behind civilians, an accusation repeatedly made by officials in Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to address his nation tonight regarding the development of peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.

The US expressed concern about "alignment" between Russia and China, following a meeting between senior US and Chinese officials in a Rome hotel where they discussed the war in Ukraine and other security issues for around seven hours.

Jake Sullivan, the US's National Security Adviser, and Yang Jiechi, the Chinese Communist Party's chief diplomat, met in Rome for what the White House described as a "substantial" session.

The White House said the two officials "underscored the importance of maintaining open lines of communication between the United States and China".

A senior US official told reporters, on condition of anonymity, that: "We do have deep concerns about China's alignment with Russia".

They added that the meeting was a "very candid conversation".

International Court of Justice to rule on Wednesday on Russia's invasion of Ukraine

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will rule on Wednesday on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, in a case brought by the latter who accuse Russia of falsely justifying the conflict.

Ukraine accuses Russia of using false claims that Ukrainian forces were 'Nazis' or committing genocide in separatist-held areas of the Donbas region as a justification for attack.

In a statement, the ICJ, which is based in The Hague in the Netherlands, said the court will deliver its order at around 15:00 GMT on Wednesday.
