Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade is letting the world know that being admired for beauty is not the same as being truly seen — especially in relationships.
In a
reflection on her journey, the screen diva shared how physical attraction,
though powerful, is not enough to sustain love or build a lasting partnership.
“I used to
be the centre of attention, the most admired, the most talked about in my
youthful days. Beauty opened many doors. I was loved, I was desired,” she
confessed.
“But guess
what? I’m still not married.”
According
to Vanguard, she made it clear that her single status isn't due to any lack of
value — but rather a deeper realization: beauty alone doesn’t keep a man.
“Some came
for the face, not the soul. Some wanted the shine, not the substance,” she
said.
“I learned
the hard way that a woman must be more than just beautiful.”
Adunni
went on to urge women to focus on building more than their looks:
“Build
your mind, know your worth, have values, be whole on your own. Marriage will
come when it is right, but don’t think beauty is all you need.”
The
actress, known for her elegance and powerful on-screen presence, made it clear
that character, values, and personal growth should come first.
“Life
demands more than looks. Work on yourself, grow, be the kind of woman that
doesn’t just turn heads — because in the end, beauty fades, but character
stays.”
