He was only stopped when
the toddler's young brother and sister chased after him.
The suspect put the child
down and ran off.
The three siblings had been
playing in a park near their babysitter's house when the man, whose picture is
reasonably clear on the CCTV images, took Owen Wright from his pushchair.
Michael Wright, the boy's
father, is urging anyone with information to come forward to avoid anyone else
getting a similar phone call to the one he received. "You get nervous.
You're nervous and you can't think straight," he told KXLY news.
"I can't explain the
feeling, the anxiety and everything that goes into finding out your children is
(sic) missing or something has happened to them."
Witness Dorothy Giddings
said she heard a little girl screaming and sent her grandson and his friend to
chase the man.
She said: "I told that
little girl, I said, 'Honey, you did exactly what you needed to do, scream your
head off.' That's what saved that baby. Her screaming and us running."
Lincoln County Sheriff Wade
Magers said the youngster was unhurt.
He believes the abductor is
not local and was passing through the town when he spotted the child.
