Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that in order to enable businesses to grow in the south-east region and the country at large, President Muhammadu Buhari must be voted out of office.
The former vice president made the assertion on Wednesday, December 19, when he took his campaign for election to Aba, Abia state,Tribune reports.

Legit.ng gathers that while addressing a crowded town hall meeting, Atiku stated that the president does not have the capacity and the will to tackle the numerous challenges facing businesses in the south-east, including the issue of non-functional ports.
He chanted “Buhari must go” to the audience, adding that he felt the pain of the attendees; as he is also a businessmen.

He said: “Of course we know that we have to make the ports work better and more efficient but nobody in this government understands the functions of the ports. Nobody! Whether it is a dry port, whether it is a wet port, whatever port it is, nobody in this government understands the workings of the ports.

“Tell me, how are they going to solve the problems for you? You have no business voting for APC, I beg you.”

Atiku noted that around the country, south-easterners are dominant in business; pointing out that no interaction with the business community is complete without meeting people from the south-east.

He said: “I am delighted to come and interact with the business community because everywhere you go, it is the south-easterners. So, naturally, if we want to know the pulse of the business community, you have to come here (Aba).”

He continued: “I will do whatever I can to promote business as long as it is within the confines of our laws; not because I am a businessman, but I want to see the prosperity of the people and the prosperity of our country.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a former governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu, stated that Atiku Abubakar will defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming 2019 election if there is no rigging.

Aliyu said Atiku would win the presidency if the 2019 election is free and fair.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Kaduna, the former governor said: "Believe me, not only in my state, I believe that if the elections are free and fair, if there is no rigging, if the security agencies are not used against our party, we will make it. We will win. Atiku will defeat Buhari squarely."
